What we were fascinated by at the WCSJ2017 in San Francisco

Many reports from the San Francisco conference have just been published on the newsletter of the Swiss Association of Science Journalists (SASJ).
This is how Olivier Dessibourg  – President of SASJ and head of the organizing committee of WCSJ Lausanne 2019 – introduced the multi-lingual publication, freely available online in French and German, with some articles in English.

Let’s reach new heights together ! Allons vers de nouveaux sommets tous ensemble ! «En montagne comme dans le journalisme scientifique», ajoute le commentaire sur la petite vidéo promotionnelle réalisée au Mont Dolent – une démarche très remarquée ! – de la candidature de Lausanne à l’obtention de l’organisation de la World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ) en 2019. Fin octobre dernier, à San Francisco, lors de la 10e WCSJ, notre association suisse, travaillant en cordée avec ses homologues française (Association des journalistes scientifiques de la presse d’information AJPSI) et italienne (Science Writers in Italy SWIM), a donc remporté cette course à la candidature, comme vous le savez certainement déjà. Ceci grâce à ce slogan et ce petit film mais surtout grâce à un solide dossier constitué durant une grosse année auparavant, bénéficiant du soutien de diverses entités académiques, gouvernementales, associatives, philanthropiques, médiatiques ou privées – que toutes en soient ici remerciées.

Lausanne chosen to host 2019 World Conference of Science Journalists

On 28 October 2017 in San Francisco, the city of Lausanne was chosen to host the 11th World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ) from 1 to 5 July 2019 at the SwissTech Convention Center, on the campus of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the University of Lausanne (UNIL). Every two years, this gathering attracts over a thousand journalists and communicators of science representing more than 60 nationalities. Launched by the Swiss Association of Science Journalism (ASJS), soon to be joined by its sister organizations in France (AJSPI) and Italy (SWIM), the Lausanne candidacy won over the Board of Directors of the World Federation of Science Journalists, which oversees the conference series.
