Note: Be aware that this you will miss the afternoon session in Lausanne if you go on this field trip.

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. They use the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter – the fundamental particles. Particles are made to collide inside the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This process gives the physicists clues about how the particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.

You will learn what happens at the forefront of particle physics. CERN scientists will accompany you to one of the huge particle detectors (ALICE, ATLAS, CMS or LHCb), 100 metres underground. In addition, you will have exclusive access to the LHC tunnel.

Please note that on July 5, participants to this trip will be treated to a closing cocktail party at Campus Biotech in Geneva.
