This trip is unabashedly touristic. The beautiful Gruyère region, with its black and white cows grazing in flowery meadows and its rolling green landscape climbing up to the peaks of the Fribourg Pre-Alps, is home to the world-famous Gruyère cheese. You will visit the picture-book medieval town of Gruyères, perched atop a small hill, with its 13th century castle, fortified wall and cobbled streets and – maybe more importantly – you will taste its scrumptiously rich double cream served with homemade meringues in one of the town’s most emblematic red geranium-festooned restaurants. You will of course also sample the legendary “moitié-moitié” fondue and discover how Gruyère cheese is made at the demonstration cheese dairy.
