Emily Gertz
Emily J Gertz is the founder of the environmental news venture (de)regulation nation, and a contributor to the podcast Drilled. Her reporting has appeared in HuffPost, Audubon, Popular Science, Reveal, Arctic Deeply, Men's Journal, TED Ideas,The Guardian, and many other outlets. As a longtime member of the Society of Environmental Journalists’ Freedom of Information Task Force, Emily has organized digital security workshops to help journalists better understand the threats to their information, and how to manage those risks. She is now spearheading a project to track press freedom violations in the pursuit of environmental and science journalism in the U.S. and Canada, including hostility from local and federal governments, legal threats to reporters and sources, and online or physical harassment and attacks.
