Frederick Mugira

Frederick Mugira is a Ugandan multiple award-winning WATER and CLIMATE CHANGE journalist, media trainer and development communication specialist with over 15 years of wide-ranging experience. He cofounded and manages InfoNile, a geojournalism platform mapping data on water issues in the Nile basin with journalism stories to promote transboundary peace https://www.infonile.org/ He is an Editor with Uganda’s leading multimedia house – Vision Group. He has reported from various countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and most recently in USA. His highest honours in journalism are: the prestigious CNN/Multichoice African Journalist award; the UN Development Journalism award; the highly competitive 2018 and 2015 Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) fellowship for international Journalists. He is implementing 'Open Water Diplomacy Lab: Media, Science and Water Cooperation in the Nile basin' a project of UNESCO IHE Delft Institute for Water Education that brings diplomats, journalists and water scientists from different Nile basin countries together to share and discuss the issues and controversies concerning the Nile Basin. He heads Water Journalists Africa, a network of over 700 journalists in 50 African countries who report on Water www.waterjournalistsafrica.com/ . Fredrick studied Environmental Journalism and Communication. He has a Master’s Degree in Communication for Development from Malmo University in Sweden.
