Deborah J. Nelson
Deborah Nelson, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, was on a Reuters team that won a 2017 AAAS Kavli award on the emergence of superbug infections and the failure of federal and state health authorities in the United States to adequately track such infections. She was part of another Reuters team that investigated the impact of rising sea levels worldwide and received a 2015 National Academies of Sciences award. Nelson previously worked for the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Seattle Times and Chicago Sun-Times. She is on the journalism faculty at the University of Maryland and the advisory board of the Fund for Investigative Journalism.
