PIO at UNAM (Mexico)

Aleida Rueda

Aleida Rueda is a science journalist. She studied Journalism and Latin American Studies at the National University of Mexico (UNAM); she did a Master's degree in Journalism for News Agencies at the Spanish University Rey Juan Carlos, which included an internship at the editorial desk of EFE agency in Cairo, Egypt. She also did a Diploma Course in Journalism for Developing Countries at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, in New Delhi. She has 15 years of experience as science writer, both in English and Spanish, on subjects such as science, technology, health, environment, energy, economy and science policy for TV, radio, internet and printed media. She has won several national awards, such as the National Prize of Journalism on Sustainability 2013 and 2016. Since 2012, Aleida coordinates the Press Office of the Institute of Physics, at UNAM, where she has consolidated a project that combines tasks of institutional communication with journalism, and where she trains students to practice science communication. She is also vicepresident of the Mexican Network or Science Journalists.
