KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Senior press manager at the UK Science Media Centre (UK)
Tom Sheldon
Tom Sheldon studied Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics before joining the Science Media Centre in 2008. Fukushima, climate change, GM crops, electronic cigarettes, diet and vaccination are just a few of the high profile media stories Tom has worked on over the years; in each case it is vitally important that the voices of researchers are heard among the uproar. When such stories are in the public eye, the Science Media Centre provides a direct route between journalists and scientists to their mutual benefit: ensuring that science, health and environment reporters have constant and immediate access to the best quality, up-to-date evidence, and that scientists get help communicating complex, nuanced evidence through mass media channels.
