Harry Surjadi
Harry Surjadi has been working as a science journalist specialized on environmental issues for more than 25 years. From 2007-2008 and 2011-2012, Surjadi was a Knight International Journalism Fellow in Indonesia. He found two journalists organizations: the Society of Indonesian Environmental Journalists (SIEJ) and the Society of Indonesian Science Journalists (SISJ). He is the chair of SISJ. In 2011 partnered with RuaiTV, he developed a mobile phone citizen journalism model for grass-root community members to empowered them fighting for their rights on forests and lands in West Kalimantan. In 2013, he received the Communication for Social Change Award from the Centre for Communication and Social Change, University of Queensland for his work in West Kalimantan. He was the Global Forest Watch Tech Fellow 2018. Beside, active as a journalists, he has been giving training workshop on environmental/science journalism and mentoring the young science journalists since 2005 in Indonesia and the regions. He has been participating as a speaker at the World Conference of Science Journalists several times.
