Anita Makri

Anita Makri is a freelance writer, editor and producer covering global development, health and the environment with a focus on science in policy, society and the Global South. She is based in London and has reported from Africa, Latin America and South Asia. Her work has been published in the Guardian, Nature, New Scientist, SciDev.Net, The Lancet, and Undark, among others. Since going freelance in 2016 Anita has also been a consultant editor at SciDev.Net, where she previously headed the op-ed and special features (Spotlights) desk and led the production of in-depth reports to cover a range of issues from a developing world perspective. In 2018 she was Visiting Journalist at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center’s residency on science for development. Anita serves as an advisor with the Global Health Film Initiative, on the board of the Association of British Science Writers, and as a mentor with the New York Academy of Sciences.
